so if u remember when i posted about reading shulamith firestone's Dialectic of Sex and being pretty impressed with the opening chapters, err, well, it falls off pretty quickly. the low point is probably chapter 5: "racism: the sexism of the family man" which is downright... racist. unfortunate!

so the book ends up having a couple intriguing ideas (abolish the family & bourgeois childhood, short-circuit the reproductive class war via artificial womb technology, the tantalizing reference to poly trans communism, etc.) that stand out in a polemic that is too much a stream-of-conscious reaction to 70s radical culture to be particularly useful today
